Skrillex and Diplo – “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber (Official Video)

“We are being overwhelmed, in a good way, by the success of “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber, so with the video we wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record & essentially create an ode to our fans. Doing what we do, it’s entirely all about the fans. We walk a fine line by being “famous” and in the public eye but we are only here because of you, the fans. Justin wrote this record during a tough time in his life and it comes to us that sometimes, as artists, we are also just objects and we have to take that as much as we have to use that to create. We all do this for you, respect that you put us here and it’s Ü that made the video.” – JACK Ü

Skrillex: The Making Of A Superstar [Yahoo]

“He introduces himself as Sonny Moore, but to his millions of young fans, he’s Skrillex — one of the biggest names in electronic dance music (EDM). Since he first found success as an EDM DJ and producer in 2011, Skrillex has collected six Grammys, 19 million Facebook fans and an estimated $20 million — all while giving away most of his music for free.

And at just 27 years old — an age he characterizes as “not young” — he says he has no plans of slowing down. The EDM prodigy is churning out new collaborations with superstars both inside and outside his genre, testing the limits of his craft — and his fan base — with every new innovation.

One of his boldest, and perhaps most polarizing new partners: pop heartthrob Justin Bieber. Moore and fellow EDM DJ Diplo, under the moniker Jack Ü, teamed up with the Biebs in early 2015 to produce the single “Where Are Ü Now.” The track quickly shot to the top of mainstream charts, drawing the ire of some EDM fans who were vocal with their criticism that Skrillex was “selling out.”

Yahoo global news anchor Katie Couric met up with Moore at his studio in downtown L.A. to give him a chance to respond to the criticism and to take a rare, intimate look into the life and career of one of EDM’s biggest stars.” – Yahoo

The Glitch Mob–Love, Death, Immortality Tour

One of our most listened to artists are coming to Minneapolis this Thursday on their Love, Death, Immortality Tour. And there are plenty of signs pointing to this concert being the best on in Minneapolis all year. Here’s why:

They have a sick new stage setup:

Check out their new stage “organism”, the Blade, it’s not just cool lights and weird design. It’s actually functional. The Glitch Mob is known to create their own crazy instruments to perform live as much as possible, and the Blade will not disappointment.

Their music Rocks!

We’ve been huge fans of The Glitch Mob ever since they  burst onto the scene with their debut album, “Drink the Sea.” Their EP did not disappoint, and “Love, Death, Immortality” was one of the most anticipated electronic music albums this year.

After his release of his album True, Avicii aka Tim Bergling is taking on new heights – extending into this video game industry. Previewed for mobile gaming, Swedish developers Hello There have planned the game to be called “Gravity”. From the little snippet, it seems the game will feature some in-app buys and a spaceship ride to Avicii’s hit music – a nice lucrative way of riding on the already success of Avicii. Rock the “Pyramid Scheme”

We already loved this song “Pyramid Scheme” by Mat Zo ft. Chuck D, but now with this sort of a music video, how can we not give it more love?! With perhaps one of the cleanest drops, the song definitely exudes good vibes, but the video features some pretty gnarly old folks that know how to “rock the funky beats”. You wish you had mad skills like these guys. Check it out to see what we are talking about!

Top 12 Highest Paid DJs

When it comes to the music industry, money flows like the Niagara Falls. With countless shows and festivals, the EDM industry is turning out to be a lucrative hobby/business. We were fairly surprised by some of the names on this list, especially with #1. We also thought that Hardwell or Zedd would be on this list along with some other big names.  Nonetheless, there are some that consider these top DJs to be “sellouts”, what do you think? Krewella “Live for the Night” [Official Music Video]

**See Krewella at Summer Set!!**

On a very (very very) simplistic level, electronic dance music can be divided into two broad categories: with vocals and without.  For the former, you’re probably used to hearing more ethereal vocals (Swan, Ellie Goulding etc.). Krewella isn’t in that category. They’re more in the “Bad Ass”, hip-hop category. Their music video for “Live for the Night” showcases that perfectly. Although it unfortunately has Sony advertising it’s new waterproof phone again *rolls eyes* like the Avicii music video, we thought the video was overall pretty dope. Yasmine, Jahan, and Rain Man can be seen cutting wires at a nuclear plant and throwing a wild party. Party with them and us at Summer Set Music Festival this weekend! We’ll let you find out how the video ends on your own:
