Infected Mushroom–Minneapolis 11/9/17

***Get Your Tickets Here***

One of favorite groups to see live, and to hang out with is back in Minneapolis this weekend. We first saw (and interviewed) Infected Mushroom back in 2013, and have been blessed to see them every year since. Although they weren’t the pioneers have psytrance, ‘the duo broke into the scene with the release of their first album in 1999, and unconsciously changed trance music forever.  Responsible for the evolution of psychedelic trance, they have gone on to experience the highest level of success in the psy trance scene, crossing over towards the electronic dance community, selling out venues and headlining festivals worldwide’. They’ve definitely put their own mark on the genre, and have help sustain its popularity outside of Goa. If you have seen their DJ sets, but not their live band, it’s definitely worth checking em out! Head to our Facebook page for a chance to win free tickets to the show!

Zombie Pub Crawl – Minneapolis 10/14

We’ve been lucky enough to cover Zombie Pub Crawl in the past, specifically with Girl Talk bringing his mashups to the dancing zombie horde, and Seven Lions bringing the feels to Skyway Theatre. That was a year to remember. The year before that, Steve Aoki had headlined. So you couldn’t be blamed for thinking, “Wait….WHO is headlining ZPC this year?!” The eclectic lineup isn’t a complete surprise when you hear what talent buyer, and festival producer, Zack Chazin has to say about it:

This festival is so much fun to book. It’s so much different than anything else out there. The goal with ZPC isn’t to be a cool trendy festival.

The goal is to make people say WTF.

W. T. F? They definitely achieved their goal. No matter that the lineup doesn’t have much EDM (I see you Beak Nasty), a bar crawl with 20,000+ zombies? Count us in.  Get ready for the dead to rise this weekend, get hyped with our homies at BOME’s recap video from 2014:

Last year, undoubtedly one of the strangest marketing campaigns for a music event in the midwest, had to have been “#WTFisSnowta?” And although it worked well last year, let’s hope they don’t do that again. This year, however, it seems that there’s not going to be much marketing needed. This festival is going to sell itself. Although Snowta had a fantastic inaugural lineup, with our good homies Big G and Infected Mushroom, plus Tipper and more–having Excision’s paradox tour and Pretty Lights headlining will cement it’s place in Minneapolis for years!

To give you a sense of just how rare a Pretty Lights tour date is, here’s a screenshot of his Tour Dates page from his website:

Yeah, that combined with the fact that Excision’s Paradox tour was wildly successful, and the Paradox stage setup is coming to Minneapolis again. Sprinkle in Ganja White Night, a little hip-hop courtesy of Post Malone, Gucci Mane, and Prof.

We got to talk to Zack Chazin, talent buyer for not only Snowta, but Zombie Pub Crawl (this weekend, you should definitely go), and 515 Alive Festival, and here’s what we found out:

One of the biggest things we wanted to improve on for Snowta 2018 was sound. We received a lot of feedback from 2017 that our Funktion rig was just not powerful enough to shake your bodies in the massive hall that we have our main stage in.

So, our good friends with Excision’s Paradox Production Team will be providing 150k+ WATTS OF PK SOUND + Lights and the Video Wall for BOTH days of Snowta on the Main Stage.

Additionally, Pretty Lights will be supplementing this MASSIVE production with his own lighting rig.

So for you bass freaks who want the sound to rattle your bones, we think you’ll get what you were asking for. Here’s the official Snowta Spotify playlist to get you stoked!

Sunrise Festival [7/22/17 – 7/23/17 Poland]

Every single day, somewhere on our beloved planet, there is a concert, an event, a festival or a good old pool party where people’s souls and hearts move in the rhythm of EDM. Some big, some not so much, music festivals come in many shapes and colors. Although we’ve been to many festivals in the US, something about going to an international festival is indescribable! Every year in July, Polish seashore town known as Kolobrzeg and its amphitheater turns for three days into the EDM capital of this part of the world. As Rowdy Beats’ international representative I had had a pleasure to attend this magnificent music festival two year in the row and guess what … This year won’t be any different! July 21, 22 and 23 will set the bar for the rest of European music festivals this summer.

Imagine this: Sun slowly rising to the sound of electronic dance music, flowers in wind-blown hair, unconditional love, sweat running down everyone’s moving in euphoria bodies and people without whom all of it would be dead silent – World’s Greatest DJs. You and your friends are pregaming in lane to the entrance surrounded by already pretty rowdy crowd from Poland, Germany, Ukraine, France, USA and all over the world! You’ve had tickets waiting on a shelf for this day for months, because the festival sold out in a matter of days once. You are getting closer to the main gate and all of the sudden it hits you. The increasingly louder, but still distant base coming somewhere from the main stage, as if coming from under water. You can feel and hear your heart beating faster, your hands start to sweat a little and you feel the wave of chills going down your spine in excitement. You walk in. You look down at your phone to check out the lineup. Oliver Heldens, Armin Van Burren, Klingade, Nervo, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Don Diablo. Wow … You are home. It’s Friday, the night is young, you know that this is going to be the weekend of your life. [Sunrise Festival]

If you’ve brushed off 515 Alive in the past, DON’T for its 15th anniversary. With brand new stage productions, new venue, and easily it’s biggest lineup to date, 515 is well on its way to become a must-hit event for festival goers. The ‘festival’ has come a long ways since it’s origins as a block party over 15 years ago– 16,000 people attended last year, forcing the festival organizers to move it to Water Works Park (still in downtown Des Moines). Here’s how much bigger the venue is this year compared to the past:

To stoke the STOKE here’s a video of Excision from his most recent tour:

Of course we’re stoked to rage face with Excision and get groovy with GRiZ. But we can’t wait to see some great up and coming talent too. Oh, and maybe Gucci Mane will be cool, we’ll see. And with tickets starting at $70 for the entire weekend, you’ll actually be able to afford food during the weekend!

Electric Forest Daily Schedules 2016

The day has finally come: Electric Forest has at last released their day-by-day schedules. Which means, people can stop complaining about how long it took, and can start complaining about how they hate that (artist x) is playing on (stage y) and not on on (stage z).  That, and the always enthralling conversations about how “They f****ed up the schedule!” But if you actually take a second to look at it,  you’ll see that they did a damn fine job with the times (We can’t speak to the stage placements since this’ll be our first year there!!).

P.S. EF won’t have printed schedules so either print out your own or download the app. (But your phone will probably either be dead or lost so just print one)

Infected Mushroom CVII Tour — 3/4 Minneapolis | Skyway Theatre

***Get Your Tickets Here***
Infected Mushroom is one of those groups that we never take for granted every year. For the last three years, they have amazed us with one of THE BEST live performances in music. From their stunning 3D mapping visuals of “The Dueling Death Stars” to their custom controllers, Duvdev and Erez always bring on their A-game. We’re beyond stoked to have them here again this Friday with a full band.

Their latest EP, Converting Vegetarians II out on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, sticks to the bizarre medley of sounds that only Infected Mushroom can create, and completely own. Listen to it here, and let it take you through the rabbit hole, into another world.

Let’s get weird. Check out our interview with Duvdev and Erez:

Keys N Krates Midnite Mass Tour — Minneapolis 2/5

***Get Your Tickets Here***
It’s shouldn’t surprise you to hear that we’re genuinely stoked to have  Keys N Krates coming to Skyway Theatre at the end of this week. They’re the exactly the type of artists we love to see–live music combined with gnarly, heavy hitting, electronic (arguably hip-hop/rap) beats. The Canadian trio brings the best of all worlds–comprising of DJ, Jr Flo (he’s a “REAL DJ”); pianist/keyboardist, Matisse; and drummer, Adam Tune–and is bringing their live electronic rap beats to MINNEAPOLIS this Friday 2/5/16. . Their self-described “weird rap beats for the weird kids” are gonna have people going nuts. Known for bangers such as “Are We Faded” and “Dum Dee Dum,” Keys N Krates has taken the world by storm, amassing over 80 MILLION VIEWS on their videos on the Trap City Youtube Channel alone.

Just freshly announced that they’ll be performing at EF this year, get your chance to see them locally while you can! And if you don’t think their live show can’t possibly be as dope as their music, just check out the video below showcasing the work put into it, and see why you’d be wrong. TC Presents is warning that tickets are flying, so don’t say we didn’t warn you! This will also be your chance to see Stooki Sond, Jessie Slayter, and our very own local duo, Wyld Lyfe.

Zedd True Color Tour: Minneapolis 10/31 @Roy Wilkins Auditorium

Update, Concert pic potential print:

Zedd 1

***Get Your Tickets Here***

We’ve been lucky enough to see Zedd a few times over the past few years. And cannot believe he’s headlining a show at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul on Halloween 2015 (This Saturday!!!)The first time we saw him, he was opening for Bassnectar back in 2012. Since then, he’s played at many festivals in the Midwest, but every time we saw him, we were surprised that he was always on a side stage. At Spring Awakening 2013, he was on stage 2. At Summer Set he didn’t play mainstage. What gives? It looks like our frustrations were felt by many, and finally this year, Zedd became the superstar everyone knew he was going to be. From having the title song off his new album, True Colors, synched up to the Empire State building lights:

To becoming a household name through the tabloid focus on his relationship with Selena Gomez. To headlining a tour with SUPPORT from A-Trak and Dillon Francis (these aren’t exactly support artists), we’d be stoked if either of them were even coming here (A-Trak and Alex Metric will be supporting in Minneapolis, Dillon Francis will not). We’ve eagerly anticipated his album True Colors, and although it’s definitely more pop then we would have liked, it’s great to see that Zedd is still incorporating his roots, while progressing into a more mainstream sound. Let’s hope he still delivers our two favorite bangers:

Judging by this picture taken by Rukes from the tour, we’re probably getting Zelda 🙂 Hope to see you guys in St. Paul this Halloween!

NERO Between II Worlds Tour [Skyway Theatre 10/23]

***Get Your Tickets Here***

The trio, comprised of DJ duo Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray, plus vocalist Alana Watson, helped popularize their glitchy synths, and heavy bass lines into pop vocals. They’ve become so successful in doing so, that they even contributed to The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Their first chart-topping single released in 2011, “Promises” has over 25 million YouTube views (their own remix with Skrillex has almost 40 million views!)

Seeing all three perform live Friday 10/23, at Skyway is definitely going to be a treat. We got to see their DJ set on the mainstage at Spring Awakening Music Festival a couple years ago, you can be sure that the show is going to be even more amazing with live vocals.
After hearing their newest album, Between II Worlds, we know that they’re still going strong. Here’s a preview of a few of their tracks from the new album. Full album download link here.

Zombie Pub Crawl Minneapolis 10/17

***Get Your Tickets Here***

The weekend is calling, and it’s gonna be one to remember. The annual Zombie Pub Crawl returns to Minneapolis, and its poised to be another record breaker. With a great forecast for this weekend,  there’s a good chance that this year might beat last year’s Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s Largest Gathering of Zombies.”

Nothing like having the largest gathering of zombies getting down to a dope concert, led by the king of mashups and a “REAL DJ,” Girl Talk. We got to see him headline Summer Set Music Festival a couple years ago, and we were blown away by the set. When you put a guy on stage who picks the best parts of your favorite songs (and thousands of samples you’ve never heard), you know it’s going to be a nonstop dance fest. Bring your boogie shoes with you and get ready to bust out best moves. Check out the video from last year’s Zombie Pub Crawl from our partner videographers over at BOME Productions:

Borgore: The Buygore Tour 10/3/15 Minneapolis

***Get Your Tickets Here***

One of electronic music’s most controversial artists is coming back to Minneapolis. We got to see Asaf Borger, AKA Borgore, last time on tour with Steve Aoki and Waka Flocka Flame, and it was something else (check out the music video for Wild Out, part of which was filmed from the Minneapolis tour stop). Borgore is famous for having a eclectic taste in music, as you can tell from the music he’s released even just this year. From the somewhat “house-y” intro of School Daze (collab with Addison) although the drop is definitely Borgore,

To G-Eazy rapping “Forbes,” with another bone rattling drop:

And a big house anthem with Steve Aoki on Aoki’s not-so-clevery titled latest album Neon Future II.

We know that whatever Borgore has in store for us with his new EP “Keep it Sexy,” it’s going to be heavy. Check out the preview. Full EP out this Friday, a day before the show!

Sunrise Festival Poland [Recap] –Rowdy Beats Exclusive

***Festival Website***

Here’s something we couldn’t wait to tell you guys about!! We got to go do media coverage for Sunrise Festival about a month ago. Our polish friend, Krzystof Walczak, at BOME Productions had this to say:

My dear fellow American friends. Let me tell you a story. Story about a place, or a land, rather. A land some 8, 000 miles away from your beloved Mid-West, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. A land with over one thousand years of history. Land of people with hearts bigger then all the wars that hunted their homes throughout the years. Land of beyond delicious home-made food composed of finest meats, breads and of course potatoes. Land of world’s best vodkas. Land of a man who became a Pope and most influential person of his time. Land of men who fought their country’s way out of every oppression and foreign rule, and of women that resemble angels, who has served as muses to the greatest of artists and musicians, such as Frederic Chopin. Yes, let me tell you a tale about Poland, and an event, which attracts people from all over Europe to the country’s finest sea shore beach.

Once a year, Polish sea shore city – Kołobrzeg, turns into home of the rising sun, flowers in wind-blown hair, unconditional love, sweat running down everyone’s moving in euphoria bodies and people without whom all of it would be dead silent – World’s Greatest DJs. My dear American friends, I have the pleasure to tell you all about the Sunrise Festival – a place where there is no scene and a DJ, it’s heaven and there is a God, who unites 20,000 people gathered by two out-of-this-world looking scenes. Electronic Dance Music enthusiasts, including me, had been awaiting for this moment to come ever since the last sound that came out of the speakers a year ago. Let me start from the beginning…

Day 1–Friday

Sunrise Music Festival in Poland. Hundreds of people still waiting in lines for the last tickets available for today (Saturday has been sold out for months now). Me – surrounded by the noisy, enthusiastic, really diversified and already little drunk crowd. I’m following increasingly louder base, which hits my ears as I am approaching the two scenes situated in the forest. Everything takes place some 1000 feet away from the Baltic Sea’s beautiful, wide, yellow-sanded beach. I am sweating from excitement and not being able to stop thinking about which scene to go visit and rage at first. I walk in. Even though I had my journalist pass swinging left and right on my neck, security is not giving me any slack and searches for anything suspicious, illegal or dangerous I might have. I feel safe. People around me feel safe too. I pass the gates. Shivers have risen my arm hair all the way from wrists to my shoulders. Everything seems to be sped up a notch. People run in circles, girls lean on each other, rushing from the “Parking” to the “Amphitheater” (names of the two scenes, because the crowd literally dances on either an enormous parking lot, or a funnel of historic amphitheater). Air smells like the perfect mixture of pine trees, sea breeze, grilled sausage with ketchup and bread, beer, theatrical smoke and of course sweat. I decide to go right…the amphitheater. I am following the crowd underneath the short tunnel leading to where the music comes from. It’s Don Diablo and his heavy dance beat with some house to it. I speed up. Suddenly, in front of my own two eyes, the wall made out of people keeps getting taller and taller as I enter the half-circle of the Kołobrzeg’s Amphitheater. The atmosphere is like I have never seen before. Everyone is standing up, but not on the floor, but on their seats. Girls with feathers in their hair, jacked shirtless bros waving the Polish flag and drinking beers while jumping up and down to the insanely good beat. Here comes the Drop! I find a spot for myself and … the party begins! Diablo delights us with some best remixes I have ever heard and it’s only beginning.  Next is Tujamo. I can’t possibly imagine, how can it get any better, but Mr. Matthias Richter (his real name) as he once said “love[s] the atmosphere in the amphitheater” knew how to make me fall off my spot dancing and some girls loose their voices screaming their lungs out.  It’s getting darker. When Oliver Heldens and his genius tracks like “Gecko”, “Koala”, or “ Can’t stop playing” make people faint, I decide to go and check out what’s happening on the parking scene. I already know that I missed Tom Swoon – a rising Polish DJ, Julian Jordan, and Sander Van Doorn – both great producers native to Netherlands and good Martin Garrix’s friends and collaborators. I am here just in time for the last minutes of Fedde Le Grand.  Parking is Rowdy. It’s a much bigger space and much more spread out crowd (but still packed). I can’t stop dancing …it’s only day one. It’s around 4 am, music slowly stops, the gates are closing, and most of us head towards the beach to rest. See you tomorrow Sunrise Festival.

Day 2 – Saturday

Today is supposed to be even crazier. No one seems to be tired, no one seams to be fully sober either. Let’s Get Rowdy. I decided to start at the Parking scene today.  I get there at around 9pm. Gate, Security, sausage and a cold one, all of it accompanied to the warm-up provided by Blinders – another fast-growing Polish DJ … I am ready. Just as a digression, since there were so many great acts, we weren’t able to see all of their sets. The place is not full yet, which is easy to notice thanks to how large the perimeter of empty space around me was. Last night I had maybe 5 inches on each side at the parking scene. Thomas Gold and Megamix are warming us up before the Australian twins. Yes! Nervo are next! I run quickly to see what’s happening in the mystical amphitheater. Turns out that Tchami is amusing even more electrolyzed crowd then last night there. I am back at the parking again. Nervo have always loved Sunrise Festival and for the past couple years learned some polish words to appreciate the great and thankfully jumping Polish crowd. Their music is as beautiful as they are themselves. Thank you Nervo!

Suddenly, something changes. The overall feel of the place and the atmosphere here got somehow different…mysterious, everything got less noisy and I can now hear people chatting around me. The Sunrise festival is Awaiting for something. Officials said that the storm is coming. It’s getting darker with every minute and mysterious music comes out of the speakers introducing someone special. Suddenly, Speakers fill the park with a raging beat. Steve Aoki jumps out from behind the DJ booth! “Boneless”, “No beef,” and his version of The Lion King’s “King of Africa”! Audience is in heaven and so am I! Although, I feel the need to be in the amphitheater for the closing part of the night. The wind starts blowing and single raindrops start hitting my shoulders and top of my head. Firebeatz just ended their truly godly performance. I am waiting for the two people or whom I might be flying to every single EDM Festival out there – Kryder & Tom Staar. R3HAB is already bringing people all the way to the stratosphere with his track “Samurai” for example. Kryder here, on the other hand, steps in front of the people-made wall, or a funnel as I described it before and starts beating his chest. Just like Jordan Belfort in the film “Wolf of Wall street“, he leads around 6 thousand people with “The hum” … it is a truly mystical, almost war-like experience. Drop! The arena shook. It’s starting to rain! I am not at the rave anymore. I am in heaven, and they are Gods.

4am, me and a small group of people (couple thousand) make our way to multiple after parties and to the beach, where the official Sunrise Festival after party takes place starting 10 am Sunday, and ends again at 4 am … in the amphitheater. And with that, the festival ends.

Thank you MDT Production for organizing such an amazing gathering of the best Electronic Dance Music and Inviting Rowdy Beats to document and pass onto the American People how Europe does it! Let’s get Rowdy next year!

Vaski’s Main Room Holiday Blowout– 12/20/14 @First Avenue

2014 has been a big year for the local music scene. VASKI, the most exciting electronic music producer from the North Star State, made some great headway this year (no “Minnesota” is not actually from Minnesota). Not only did he release his “Weightless EP”, DJ a Twins game at Target Field, release tracks that have hundreds of thousands of plays on SoundCloud, but he became the resident DJ at historic First Avenue (or as The Glitch Mob called it when we hung out with them, “Prince’s Club” haha).

Vaski’s last residency show is coming THIS SATURDAY, 12/20/14. Although he recently moved to Los Angeles, he’s bringing the love back tohis home turf, along with some great support: TWRK (who was featured in Skrillex’s Red Rocks Set) known for the ridiculously catchy “BaDINGA!”, and the homies Boombox Cartel. Flosstradamus–Minneapolis 11/25

Man, oh man. It’s almost time. The Hdynation (hoodie-nation) is about to descend on Minneapolis in one day bringing with it a night to remember. The masters of hip-hop and trap are bringing wicked new stage to Minneapolis’ own Skyway Theatre this Tuesday. After seeing them at Spring Awakening and Summer Set Music Festivals in 2013, we know that this is going to be a must see show. The Chicago based duo, Curt and Josh, are known to have HEAVY sets that will get the audience absolutely ROWDY. Check out a behind the scenes look at their new stage, it’s nothing you would expect to see:

Curt put it best himself: “most shows in our genre, everyones standing in front of a giant lcd screen. We’re trying to step away from that, and bring some physical props to life. I feel like in our genre a lot of these kids aren’t even used to seeing stuff like this. So, when this gets unveiled and the first song comes on, they’re gonna just blow their minds.” Who’s ready to get their minds blown? (Pro-tip: bring earplugs).

Along with all of his musical feats he’s  also been known for his charity work with Pencils of Promise, notably raising $20,000 through ticket sales, Beatport commissions and donations from his fans.  After missing out on his Life In Color set last year, he’s been high on our must see list. Check out his newest mashup album, Dance Floor Filth 4 (FREE DOWNLOAD), and get ready to GET ROWDY this Saturday at Spades Nightclub (21+ show)!! We’re giving away a ticket and +1 on our Facebook page, head over there to enter!

And an original mix, which you’ve probably heard numerous times at festivals and in random Youtube videos:
