When it comes to the music industry, money flows like the Niagara Falls. With countless shows and festivals, the EDM industry is turning out to be a lucrative hobby/business. We were fairly surprised by some of the names on this list, especially with #1. We also thought that Hardwell or Zedd would be on this list along with some other big names.  Nonetheless, there are some that consider these top DJs to be “sellouts”, what do you think? Top 5 People You See at EDM Festivals

481883_435815403181359_742387479_n

Summerset Music Festival is just around the corner. The 3-days and 2 nights of awesomeness is less than a month away. Sure we’re stoked to see Big Gigantic, GRiZ, Diplo, Adventure Club, STS9, and Girl Talk in the span of just 3 days. And if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, get them HERE. But besides the spine-tingling music and the eye-popping lights, the people will be just as memorable as the headliners. Amongst the hula girls, the raver chicks, the fist pumping guidos, and what have you, here are the Top 5 people you’ll see at a Music Festival this year:

#5. The Pharmacist

If you’re having problems with your glaucoma or your external acoustic meatus, this person with no professional healthcare training has you covered.

Look for: a small group of people in the forest, it’ll look like they are having a business meeting, but they’re always looking for investors. (**WE DO NOT ENDORSE OR ENCOURAGE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES, YOU WILL GET KICKED OUT/GO TO JAIL IF YOU ARE CAUGHT WITH ILLICIT SUBSTANCES**)

#4. Guy Who Came to the Wrong Place (But Played Along With It)

This will be the guy asking you for directions on how to get to the Aquafresh commercial in the middle of a set.

Look for: A huge opening in the crowd of the main stage, the budding entertainer needs as much attention as he can get.

#3. The people who went too hard (or just hard enough)

Bravo to those people that jump up and down or sit on a shoulder fist pumping the night away. However, there is a breed out there that put the rest of the crowd to shame. The people in the circle are doing it right (although, not sure if it’s the euphoria of the music or something else that gets these people Rowdy!). Do we dare tell them to “take it easy”?

Look for: You’ll find these guys where ever there’s grass. Because doing headstands and somersaults is only fun when you don’t get bruised and battered.

#2. PLUR Ambassadors/Kandi Kids

The unofficial spokespeople of the EDM world, Kandi Kids are the ones who go around talking to everyone, doing their best to make new friends and swapping Kandi with their new friends. The swap is usually done by holding hands and sliding the bracelet from one person to the other. In their plush toy backpacks (maybe if you’re lucky you’ll see a Pikachu backpack) they carry toys, candy, sometimes drugs (again, we do not endorse this), and any assortment of other things to entertain not only themselves but also others.

Look for: Usually located on the opposite side of the stage, or near the campgrounds. Sure they love the music, but making friends and welcoming new people into their rave family is their real purpose.

#1. The Deadmau5 Fan (even though Deadmau5 isn’t in the lineup)

When was the last time you went to a festival and DIDN’T see a fan wearing a Mau5head? It’s not surprising that the ultra cool helmet has become a symbol of EDM festivals around the world – even if it’s 100 degrees outside. Mau5fans are always super chill and love to have their photo taken with you, so don’t be shy!

Look For: If you’re having difficulty seeing the stage, there’s probably a giant Mau5head in front of you.

Top 5 EDM Festivals [USA] – Summer 2013!

IMG_3849wm

It’s summer. The kids are out of school, the weather is awesome, the birds are chirping, and you have nothing to do but to sit at home watching TV mindlessly or what have you. Here is a recommendation – go to one of these music festivals! Whether you’re an EDM lover or not, you’re sure to have an amazing time at one of these banging festivities that feature some of the top djs/producers along with the craziest, most riveting, gnarly crowds. With that said, we have accumulated our top picks for the festivals that you should try to go to this summer 2013.

1. TomorrowWorld

When/Where: Sept 27-29, 2013; Atlanta, GA

Headliners: Tiësto, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki

Rowdy Factor: We really don’t need to say much about this festival. Aside from featuring 300 acts, the sister to its European TomorrowLand (which sold all 180,00 tickets in a matter of opening minutes), this festival will create the illusion of a fairytale world with meticulous attention to the tiniest details. The campgrounds will be called “DreamVille” for god’s sake! We all want to get away from reality and this is our chance.

Basic Cost: 3-days – $347

2. Sun City Music Festival

When/Where: Aug. 31 – Sept 1, 2013; Ascarte Park// El Paso, TX

Headliners: Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Alesso

Rowdy Factor: This is SCMF’s third year, and the line up does not disappoint. With DJ Mag’s top DJ Armin Van Buuren and some other big names such as Adventure Club, Flosstradamus, the festival takes place in Ascarte Park. Ascarte park features 400+ acres of a natural backdrop which will be the perfect compliment to the electric atmosphere at this venue.

Basic Cost: 2-days – $120

3. Electric Zoo

When/Where: Aug. 30 – Sept. 1// New York, NY

Headliners: Avicii, Bassnectar, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Sebastian Ingrosso,

Rowdy Factor: Electric Zoo is located on Randall’s Island Park, which as the name implies, is on an island in the heart of New York City (between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx). As can be expected from the number one city in the United States, its lineup is equally as epic, with all of the producers and DJ’s you would expect at a world-famous festival+the Bass God himself, Bassnectar.

Basic Cost: $359-weekend pass (Fri-Sunday)

4. Lollapalooza

When/Where: August 2nd-4th//Chicago, IL

EDM Artists (not necessarily headlining): Steve Angello, Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, GRiZ, Baauer, Kill the Noise.

Rowdy Factor: Easily the biggest festival in the Midwest, taking place in the heart of Chicago right next to the lakeside; Lollapalooza offers one of the most diverse lineups of any festival in the world (and as such, cannot be considered an “EDM” festival, but its good to be well-rounded!). With superstars of Pop, Rock, and EDM, colliding, you know it’s going to be riot.

Basic Cost: $235 (unfortunately, already sold out)

5. Electric Daisy Carnival

When/Where: June 21-23//Las Vegas, NV

Headliners: Afrojack, Knife Party, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, Tiësto +others

Rowdy Factor: A carnival for grown ups. Featuring rides, attractions, lights, and the biggest name artists in the world. EDC will leave you feeling like a child going to a carnival for the first time. It offers a whole new spin on music festivals, and is truly unlike any other event in the world.

Basic Cost: Next year’s pricing TBA
