SNOWTA NYE 2017

***Get your tickets here***

Last year, undoubtedly one of the strangest marketing campaigns for a music event in the midwest, had to have been “#WTFisSnowta?” And although it worked well last year, let’s hope they don’t do that again. This year, however, it seems that there’s not going to be much marketing needed. This festival is going to sell itself. Although Snowta had a fantastic inaugural lineup, with our good homies Big G and Infected Mushroom, plus Tipper and more–having Excision’s paradox tour and Pretty Lights headlining will cement it’s place in Minneapolis for years!

To give you a sense of just how rare a Pretty Lights tour date is, here’s a screenshot of his Tour Dates page from his website:

Yeah, that combined with the fact that Excision’s Paradox tour was wildly successful, and the Paradox stage setup is coming to Minneapolis again. Sprinkle in Ganja White Night, a little hip-hop courtesy of Post Malone, Gucci Mane, and Prof.

We got to talk to Zack Chazin, talent buyer for not only Snowta, but Zombie Pub Crawl (this weekend, you should definitely go), and 515 Alive Festival, and here’s what we found out:

One of the biggest things we wanted to improve on for Snowta 2018 was sound. We received a lot of feedback from 2017 that our Funktion rig was just not powerful enough to shake your bodies in the massive hall that we have our main stage in.

So, our good friends with Excision’s Paradox Production Team will be providing 150k+ WATTS OF PK SOUND + Lights and the Video Wall for BOTH days of Snowta on the Main Stage.

Additionally, Pretty Lights will be supplementing this MASSIVE production with his own lighting rig.

So for you bass freaks who want the sound to rattle your bones, we think you’ll get what you were asking for. Here’s the official Snowta Spotify playlist to get you stoked!

The trio, comprised of DJ duo Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray, plus vocalist Alana Watson, helped popularize their glitchy synths, and heavy bass lines into pop vocals. They’ve become so successful in doing so, that they even contributed to The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Their first chart-topping single released in 2011, “Promises” has over 25 million YouTube views (their own remix with Skrillex has almost 40 million views!)

Seeing all three perform live Friday 10/23, at Skyway is definitely going to be a treat. We got to see their DJ set on the mainstage at Spring Awakening Music Festival a couple years ago, you can be sure that the show is going to be even more amazing with live vocals.
After hearing their newest album, Between II Worlds, we know that they’re still going strong. Here’s a preview of a few of their tracks from the new album. Full album download link here.

The weekend is calling, and it’s gonna be one to remember. The annual Zombie Pub Crawl returns to Minneapolis, and its poised to be another record breaker. With a great forecast for this weekend,  there’s a good chance that this year might beat last year’s Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s Largest Gathering of Zombies.”

Nothing like having the largest gathering of zombies getting down to a dope concert, led by the king of mashups and a “REAL DJ,” Girl Talk. We got to see him headline Summer Set Music Festival a couple years ago, and we were blown away by the set. When you put a guy on stage who picks the best parts of your favorite songs (and thousands of samples you’ve never heard), you know it’s going to be a nonstop dance fest. Bring your boogie shoes with you and get ready to bust out best moves. Check out the video from last year’s Zombie Pub Crawl from our partner videographers over at BOME Productions:

2014 has been a big year for the local music scene. VASKI, the most exciting electronic music producer from the North Star State, made some great headway this year (no “Minnesota” is not actually from Minnesota). Not only did he release his “Weightless EP”, DJ a Twins game at Target Field, release tracks that have hundreds of thousands of plays on SoundCloud, but he became the resident DJ at historic First Avenue (or as The Glitch Mob called it when we hung out with them, “Prince’s Club” haha).

Vaski’s last residency show is coming THIS SATURDAY, 12/20/14. Although he recently moved to Los Angeles, he’s bringing the love back tohis home turf, along with some great support: TWRK (who was featured in Skrillex’s Red Rocks Set) known for the ridiculously catchy “BaDINGA!”, and the homies Boombox Cartel. Man, oh man. It’s almost time. The Hdynation (hoodie-nation) is about to descend on Minneapolis in one day bringing with it a night to remember. The masters of hip-hop and trap are bringing wicked new stage to Minneapolis’ own Skyway Theatre this Tuesday. After seeing them at Spring Awakening and Summer Set Music Festivals in 2013, we know that this is going to be a must see show. The Chicago based duo, Curt and Josh, are known to have HEAVY sets that will get the audience absolutely ROWDY. Check out a behind the scenes look at their new stage, it’s nothing you would expect to see:

Curt put it best himself: “most shows in our genre, everyones standing in front of a giant lcd screen. We’re trying to step away from that, and bring some physical props to life. I feel like in our genre a lot of these kids aren’t even used to seeing stuff like this. So, when this gets unveiled and the first song comes on, they’re gonna just blow their minds.” Who’s ready to get their minds blown? (Pro-tip: bring earplugs).

Seven Lions Recap

IMG_9939wmvnew

Last Friday at First Ave in downtown Minneapolis was one of our favorite nights of the season. The boys from Rowdy Beats got going early catching PF Chang’s (Paul Chang) opening DJ set and it was pretty cool to see our buddy rocking out up on stage. The main performer, Seven Lions put on quite the performance combining house and interesting off beat rhythms, with intense melodies and some heavy wobbles. Seven Lions’ light show was extremely minimal, which was disappointing from one perspective but also made us concentrate more on the music, which was perhaps the intended effect. As always, Minneapolis came out to party and the crowd was in a great mood, giving each person room to dance and do their own thing. All in all, it was a great night, thank you SIM Shows and we can’t wait to catch you all at the next banger!

Seven Lions | Minneapolis| First Ave

This Friday the 25th of April, Seven Lions will be performing at First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis and we expect nothing short of a spiritual experience. Seven Lions who categorizes his music as trancestep is some of the most beautifully crafted production on the circuit and we expect his live show to be incredible. His melodies inspire deep, real emotions and you can feel his energy shining through on every track. Not to mention the fact that the show is at First Ave which, according to Rolling Stone, is the third best big room venue in the USA, and we’ve experienced  incredible acoustics there ourselves! Sound In Motion will be hosting the event and they always know how to put on a great show!

Hardwell Recap

 1911057_500852960037885_1645507805136415173_o

Last Thursday, Hardwell and his friends Dyro and Dannic showed up in Minneapolis and blew the roof off of Epic Night CLub! The boys from Rowdy Beats arrived pretty early in the night to set for an interview with Dyro and we were able to catch up with him before his set. After hearing what Dyro had to say about music, touring and his crazy adventures, it was into the crowd to catch Dannic’s set. Dannic was perhaps our favorite set of the night and his love of funk really shined through, bringing some groove to the house!

Hardwell was obviously on another level and it was not difficult to understand why he is the number 1 DJ in the world at the moment. We just about lost our minds when he dropped Dare You and Spaceman!

893995_500854900037691_6065483939534821984_o

We also had the chance to talk with Dannic after his set and we have nothing but good things to say about him as well. It was evident from the very beginning of the night that these three cats share a special friendship and that they’re really having a lot of fun out here on the road. Dyro closed out the wild night and it’s safe to say we left with our ears ringing. Having the opportunity to hear Leprechauns and Unicorns performed on a real system was a dream come true. Y’all better come back to Minneapolis soon. If you have the chance to see any of these three live, you won’t want to pass up on the opportunity. A big thanks to Sound in Motion and we will see you all at the next show!

Minneapolis has sold out the event and there are clearly thousands of people who are ready for this night to go down. Paper Diamond | Minneapolis | Mill City Nights

Saturday night Paper Diamond will be making an appearance at Mill City Nights in downtown Minneapolis and we are stoked. We’ve seen this cat perform a few times and he is one of the only people on the circuit that seems to get better every time we see him. We had the chance to catch him at North Coast Music Festival in downtown Chicago last fall and the show was bumpin!! Not to mention, LOUDPVCK and Branchez will both be making appearances which is going to make this Saturday night legendary!! If you haven’t had the chance to see Paper Diamond perform yet, most definitely come out to the show and get down with us!

Big Gigantic: The Night is Young Tour Recap!

Dom

It was a beautiful Valentine’s Day indeed, one that we will not quickly forget. The duo known as Big Gigantic was in Minneapolis on Friday night and their set blew us away. You can always tell within the first minute of a show, if the artists are zoned in or not, and those cats were ready to go. From the first song to the last, Dom and Jeremy were feeling it. To add to the excitement, Big G had just dropped a brand new album titled ‘The Night Is Young’ earlier in the week which meant… a whole lot of brand new music for us, including some of our favorites such as “Clvdbvrst” and “Blue Dream”!! We have seen these two perform over 5 times and it’s exciting to see their continued progress as musicians. Each show brings a new element that was not present in the last, they are always improving and always innovating. The crowd was also on another level and we were so happy to see all the beautiful people that came out to party with us. Minneapolis has some of the best fans in the world and we could truly feel the love in the air. A Big Gigantic Family. Until festival season!!

Infected Mushroom | Minneapolis | Skyway Theater

One of the most interesting and original duos on the EDM circuit are Erez and Duvdev, better know as their stage name Infected Mushroom. These two will be rocking the SKyway Theater on Saturday night and we cannot wait for their show. We have been lucky enough to see these two perform a couple time over the last couple years, and it is one CRAZY ride. We particularity enjoy Infected Mushroom for their incredible light show. They will send each and every person present on a different adventure and no experience will be the same. We expect a full house on Saturday night and can’t wait to see the type of crowd that comes out to this show. Time to get weird.  If you haven’t already, get your tickets!

Krewella “Human” [Music Video]

Krewella Recap

**Check our pictures from the show here!!**

Last Sunday on the 29th of December, Krewella hit the Twin Cities and brought the bass to Minnesota. It was one of the coldest nights of the year and having to stand outside for 10 minutes was a mind numbing experience. However, there was so much anticipation leading up to Krewella’s show at Myth, that when they finally came out on stage, the place absolutely blew up. It was one of the biggest shows Sound in Motion threw all year. Myth was sold out and even on a Sunday night, the Twin Cities came out to PARTY. Krewella’s music went in every direction, bringing a different sound for everyone there. As usual we were in the thick of it all, snapping pictures of you crazy people. Can’t wait for the next show!!

Krewella | Minneapolis | December 29th

On the 29th of December, the crazy ass trio Krewella will be coming to Minneapolis and looking to party. Krewella will be performing at Myth in St. Paul and the last show we saw there, Pretty Lights, was on another level. Myth is a little out of the way, but the size of the venue is worth the drive, it’s dope! The Krew is made up of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf and producer Kris “Rain Man” Trindl. The trio have been together since 2007 and have seen a meteoric rise in popularity. Everyone we know that’s seen a Krewella show says they absolutely throw DOWN. We’ve been waiting for these three to hit Minneapolis for quite some time and we expect it to be one crazy night!!

Adventure Club Recap

IMG_7352wm

**Check out our pictures from the show!!**

Two days ago, on Wednesday the 11th of December, Adventure Club came to Minneapolis and put on arguably the best show we have ever seen at Skyway Theater. Everything about the night was legendary. For starters, it was colder than one could possibly imagine and that was all the more incentive to get inside and start raging. Secondly, Adventure Club went unconscious and their show was pure bliss. Skyway had the sound system running well and every song that Adventure Club played was incredible. They really understood how to feel the energy in the crowd and play music accordingly. Lastly and most importantly, the PEOPLE that came out to the show were truly beyond words. We were so proud to see that Minneapolis sold out the show even on a Wednesday, you could really feel the love and the good vibes in the crowd.

We believe that the people are just as important as the music and to get into the crowd with all you guys, get lost in the music and then be able to take pictures of it all, is truly a dream come true.

A HUGE shout out to TC Dubstep for an amazing night. Thanks for coming and we’ll see you all you homies at the next show!!

Adventure Club Coming to Minneapolis!

Next Wednesday on December 11th, Adventure Club will be throwing down at Skyway Theater in downtown Minneapolis. The duo is currently on their SuperHeroes Anonymous Tour and every show that these two put on is nothing short of incredible. We were lucky enough to catch them this year at SummerSet Music Festival and although the sound system was having some technical difficulties, the music was still on another level. Adventure Club are known for their incredible vocals as well as their monstrous mind bending drops. But what is truly special about these two is the emotion and feeling that you get from their music. You are transported to a different world during their shows and when you come back you might just see the world a little differently.  This is not a show you’ll want to miss! Get your tickets here.

WorldCAT – Yacht Club

The World Class Art Thieves, better known as WorldCAT, recently released a chill, upbeat original mix entitled Yacht Club. The duo, legally known as AJ Norman & Dylan Howe, hails from none other than Minneapolis, Minnesota. They define their sound as combining the elements of glitch-step, moombahton, trap, and electro house in a seamless blend of smooth ethereal sounds, catchy melodies and dirty whomps.  I would say a simple filthy would suffice. The song is available for free download on their soundcloud.
